Language Drops Vocabulary App

As language learners, we need to spend time learning words since they are the building blocks of any language. With Drops, you can learn new words in just 5 minutes a day.

Drops is a language program that teaches vocabulary. It has more than 35 languages to choose from. Drops is available online and it also has apps for smartphones and tablets. You can use it for five minutes a day even if you don’t subscribe to it. If you want to subscribe, then you can practice for 15 minutes or more. By the way, if you are a student or a teacher, you can get a discount!

After you pick the language you want to practice, you can decide which category of words you would like to learn. There are so many categories to choose from.

Then a new word is introduced against an orange background.

There are two options on the left and the right-hand side of the word.

If I know the word, I can swipe it to the left, or I can swipe it to the right to study the new word.

After I swipe the word to the right image, I get to practice.

Against a blueish green background, I am presented with the word breakfast.

I have to choose between the images on the left or the right side and I have to swipe the word to either one of them.

There are more types of exercises to make sure I learn the word by the end of the session.

In this exercise, I need to swipe the word to the correct image.

In this exercise, I need to link the letters in the correct order to spell the word.

At the end of the 5-minute learning period, you can learn between 5-10 words, which is amazing.

Newcomer: 0-1 words

Novice: 5-50 words

Tourist: 75-500 words

Conversationalist: 1000-2000 words

Drops Visual Dictionary

On the web version, there is a visual dictionary that helps you translate a word with a picture.

Look at the word and its image:

[Patlican in Turkish is eggplant in English.]

Who can’t spare 5 minutes a day, right? Start today and give Drops a try!
